Charlie Poole 1892-1931

Charlie Poole & his North Carolina Ramblers were one of the most popular string bands of the 1920s and had a great influence on the development of banjo music. His three-finger banjo technique is a fascinating predecessor to Earl Scruggs' more fiery technique. Poole is largely responsible for popularizing the banjo and created a unique playing style involving his thumb and two fingers.
