Weymann Tenor Banjo

This banjo has great volume and a crisp sound. The Weymann is a high quality
instrument made circa 1928. It
has
a 1/4" steel
tone ring with a sheathed nickel-plated brass that extends down the outer part of the rim. All the hardware, including the brass tailpiece is original. The
straight 19-fret neck has a 23" scale length,
with 1 1/8" width
at the first fret. The frets are in excellent condition. The smooth well-crafted neck and rim are made of select hard maple. The rounded-back 11" rim is a full 3/4 thick and has an appealing pattern to the wood. The rim has 20 brackets with "L-shaped" shoes and inside hex-shaped nuts. The 1/4" thick tension hoop has slots. The hooks are rounded with 3/8" hex-shaped nuts. The original ivoroid-knob

are fully
functional. The peghead thick pear veneer is inlayed with pearl. The neck has a wonderfully thick
ebony fingerboard with pearl dots and an thick pear capped heel. The heavy dowel is number stamped and and has a wonderful heavy brass rim attachment. There is also an adjustable brass connector from the end of the dowel to the heel. The frosted translucent mylar head has a pleasant feel and crisp sound. The new maple bridge has ebony and bone inserts. The original string nut is bone.
This banjo is very clean and feels great to hold. It is meticulously set up and plays exceptionally well. It also comes with a vintage case.

Some well-known Irish banjo players prefer 17-Fret necks. Upon request, this banjo can be provided as a CELTIC TENOR BANJO at an additional charge of $20. The nut and bridge will be modified and a new set of Irish Tenor Strings (.014 .024w .032w .042w) will be installed.
