Lange Tenor Banjo
Item B-51

This is a quality constructed 1920's unlabeled Lange tenor banjo. The banjo is quite substantial, clean, and in good playable condition. The original grover tuning pegs are fully functional. The 19-fret ebony fingerboard has pearl dot inlays and is 1 1/8" wide at the bone nut. The maple neck has a center lamination and it is straight. The Scale Length is 23". The tone ring is a 1/4" steel hoop inset into the rim.   The rim is 10 5/8 inch, 5/8" thick, and the flange is fitted to it. The rim is inlayed with gold colored sparkly binding material. The banjo has a grooved, nickel-plated brass tension hoop and an original adjustable Waverly tailpiece. The resonator has surface scratches and one of the binding slots is filled with gold sparkly material somewhat matching the original binding. The Lange-style flange is quite heavy and made out of nickle-plated brass. It is slightly warped, but hardly noticeable. The Remo head is in good playable condition with a excellent tone. The hooks, nuts, armrest, and strings are new. It has a Grover non-tip bridge, and good action. The action of this banjo is nice and low, measuring less than 1/32 at the first fret and less than 3/32 at the 19th fret.
