Jedson Tenor Banjo
Item B-87
This is a very well made 1920's unlabeled tenor banjo. The distinctive shape of the peghead is that
of a Jedson, a brand of the Dallas Co. in England. The
neck and rim of this banjo is made of maple and ebony.
The hardware is complete and in good condition. The vintage
nickel-plated brass tension hoop has ample
thickness and is in good shape. The hooks are new re-issue
replacements. The 20 brackets have original hex shoes with
interior hex head screws. The grover tuning pegs with black
knobs are original and fully functional. The 17-fret ebony
fingerboard has bone or white plastic dot inlays and the
peghead is veneered with ebony. The scale length is 20
7/8" and the fingerboard measurement at the string
nut is 1 3/16". The string nut is ebony. The maple
neck has two parallel ebony lines down its center. The
heel has
an ebony cap. The rim has a matching set of ebony inlays.
The tone ring is inset steel.
This banjo has a 10 7/8" mylar head installed.
A new adjustable tailpiece and bridge has been added. The action and
playability is excellent. The sound sample is called Red Fox and was recorded in DGBD tuning.
Upon request, this banjo can be provided as a CELTIC TENOR BANJO at an additional charge of $20. The nut and bridge will be modified and a new set of Irish Tenor Strings (.014 .024w .032w .042w) will be installed.
