Favilla Tenor Banjo
Item B-02

This vintage banjo has a 12" maple rim that is 2 1/2 deep and 3/4" thick, capped with ebony. It has a well-crafted 32-hold archtop tone ring built into the rim. The dowel stick has the name Favilla Bros on top, and its original neck attachment hardware is a simple screw. The original skin head is in good, somewhat discolored, condition and is held down by a heavy, brass grooved tension hoop and 22 original brackets. There is a vintage bar armrest. The simple tailpiece is original and works well.

The 17-fret ebony fingerboard is inlayed with pearl dots and has a scale length of 21 3/8". The width of the neck at the thick ebony nut is 1 1/8". The maple neck is centered-laminated with an ebony capped heel. The grained-ivoroid knob friction pegs are original and in excellent shape. The ebony veneered peghead is inlayed with the initials FAB, with the center inlay missing. This banjo has a good neck angle with a straight fingerboard, good action and no buzzes. It comes in a hard shell vintage case.
