American Conservatory Tenor Banjo

This is a very clean and well made 1920's tenor banjo with the name American Conservatory embossed on the dowel. The serial number on the dowel is 271. The dowel has a nice nickel-plated metal ferrule and brace hardware. This all original banjo is very attractive and in excellent playable condition. The 17-fret ebony fingerboard has pearl dot inlays and the peghead is veneered with ebony. The scale length is 21" and the fingerboard measurement at the bone nut is 1- 1/4". The maple neck is straight and the heel veneered. The tone ring is a formed wood edge at the top of the rim. The maple rim is 10 3/4" dia, 1/2" thick, and 2 1/2" high. It is laminated on the bottom with ebony and is capped with maple. There are 22 original brackets with nicely designed L-shaped shoes with hex head screws and flat hooks with 5/8" nuts. The banjo has a 1/4" thick, grooved, nickel-plated brass tension hoop and the original 1901 pat'd no-Knot tailpiece. It has a Remo frosted back mylar head. It has a 1/2" bridge, good action, and excellent sound.

Upon request, this banjo can be provided as a CELTIC TENOR BANJO at an additional charge of $20. The nut and bridge will be modified and a new set of Irish Tenor Strings (.014 .024w .032w .042w) will be installed.
