Deering
Boston Banjo
Information
|
| The guitar-style tuners that come on the Deering Boston don't have much visual appeal. In contrast, Saga's SS-3 has quality planetary tuners with elegantly shaped and attractive pearl-patterned knobs. The shape of the Deering headstock is awkward and the silkscreen name and image are not appealing. Compare that to the SS-3's double-cut profile, black color, and nice pearl inlay. |

The fingerboard of the Deering Boston is not bound. The Saga SS-3 has a well installed thick binding, making the fingerboard edge very comfortable. |

| The metal rim of the Deering Boston is a simple form compared to the more developed tone ring system rim of the Saga SS-3. True, the Boston's steel rim produces a nice ring, but the buttressed tone ring of the SS-3 banjo produces a clear full sound too. |

| The stain and wood grain of the Deering Boston is rather bland compared to the interesting appearance of the Saga SS-3 Banjo. |
