This banjo was made in the 1960's and is an excellent open back banjo. The reinforced neck is straight and the action is set just right for clawhammer playing. The skin head with wood rim and rolled brass tone ring gives a beautiful tone. The rim has 20 brackets consisting of "L" Shape shoes and round hooks. The 11" diameter multi-ply laminated wood rim is 1/2" thick. The nickel-plated brass grooved tension hoop is in nice shape. The neck and rim have an excellent finish. The string nut is bone. The neck is steel reinforced. The fingerboard is thick rosewood with pearl dot inlays. Measurement at the nut is 1-5/16" and the scale length is 26-5/16". It is a very clean instrument with wonderful color and appearance. The planetary tuners are and geared 5th tuner are all brand new. The tuners have cream ungrained ivoroid knobs. The vega style armrest and no-Knot tailpiece are also new. Its quality construction and good setup produces a banjo with an excellent oldtime sound.
