Bacon Belmont 5-String Banjo

Item A-07

This banjo was made in the 40's or 50's. It is set up well with good action and in very good playable condition. There's some surface repair done to the finish on the rim and in the heel area. The tuning machines are a geared type and the banjo has a new, brass shell tailpiece that is adjustable. The strings and armrest are new as well. The scale length is 26" with the neck width at the nut is 1 1/8". The ivoroid bound ebony fretboard is inlaid with MOP dots. The flamed neck has an ebony center lamination. There are 24 brackets with "L" shoes and round hooks. The rim is multi-laminated and is 3/4" thick. The tone ring is an inset 1/4" steel hoop. The nickel-plated brass tension hoop is notched for 24 hooks. The flange fits the rim and resonator well. The banjo has a dowel stick.
