Saga Open Back 5-String Banjo

This is a new custom-made banjo made from an SS3 Resonator banjo neck which has been attached to a Saga Kit rim. This rim was chosen because is has a nice integrated tone ring design based on a Lange invention that goes back to about the 30's and was used by Gibson and Ode banjos. The result is a nice resonating sound with a modern smooth reinforced neck. The banjo has a beautifully stained and finish bound mahogany neck with side markers. The neck has an adjustable truss rod. The rim is a polished aluminum rim with an integral archtop 24-hole tone ring. There are 24 brackets, nickel-plated hex shoes and round hooks with reissue vintage nuts. The 11" Remo frosted mylar head is in excellent condition. The tension hoop is Nickel-plated heavy-duty brass, 24-slot. The rosewood fingerboard has mother of pearl position markers and frets in excellent condition. The banjo has planetary tuners and a nickel-plated brass "Waverly" adjustable tailpiece. The 1/2" maple and ebony bridge has bone inserts and an engraved armrest. It has very low action and plays very well.
